The Winterhawks are cruising through a 7-game win streak.

Oliver Bjorkstrand had a hat trick that cemented their 6-1 victory over Everett Sunday. Evertt had many chances to make it a fight with six power plays but Portland held them scoreless on every one. They remain the U.S. Divisional leader in the Western Conference with a 33-12-2-3 record. [Portland Tribune]

Here’s what happened for the rest of the area’s teams:

  • The Portland Pilots‘ men’s basketball team took down WCC rival BYU in triple overtime last week. The Pilots were led by Bobby Sharp who had eight three pointers and Thomas van der Mars who had 27 points in the game. San Diego ceased the celebration on the Bluff with a 65-63 win Saturday. • The Blazers split a back-to-back series weekend with a strong win over the Timberwolves Saturday followed by an out of character blowout loss Sunday to the Warriors. Sunday’s game was a tough one for everyone, even Portland’s favorite MVP candidate LaMarcus Aldridge who only scored 10 points. [ESPN]
  • A much-needed win brought a sigh of relief to the Oregon men’s basketball team Sunday. The Ducks beat Washington State 71-44 after losing five straight PAC-12 games and dropping to 10th in the conference. [OregonLive]
