PortlandSports.com is seeking a Content Marketing intern to join our team.
We are looking for an intern to assist with our content marketing efforts. You will learn the ins and outs of our business as we increase public awareness about the large sports offerings in the greater Portland area. Interns will also gain by-lines and full recognition on all articles, posts and press releases published by them. This job requires about five hours weekly, plus we ask that you join our bi-weekly staff meetings. This internship is an unpaid position. College credit is available for those that qualify.
Interns are expected to have experience with content creation (blogs, press releases, news articles, etc.) as well as be fluent in all major social media outlets, most notably Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google+ and Instagram. Experience with HootSuite a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Research and manage weekly calendar of events for all sports activities in Portland and surrounding area: From small 5K runs to basketball league registrations.
- Research offerings by all local recreational sports organizations: Sports, team dues, registration deadlines, etc.
- Write weekly marketing email: “This week in Portland…” to announce all sports-related events in Portland and the surrounding area.
- Share articles, photos and other items to our social media profiles.
- Help increase our social media followers and website traffic
- Engage with community on behalf of PortlandSports.com through website, email and social media.
- Schedule articles, press releases and blog posts.
Skills and attributes interns are expected to have:
- An interest in sports and the local community
- Excellent written and verbal communication with strong editing skills
- Experience proofreading and editing
- Preferably a background in journalism, marketing or business
- Business-level knowledge of major social media networks
- Skilled in WordPress
- Proficient in MailChimp (or willingness to learn)
- Willingness to create blog posts, press releases and social media posts
- Creativity to increase website traffic
- Very detail-oriented
- Deadline-Driven
