The Portland Winterhawks dropped a 6-2 decision in Everett Friday to the Silvertips.

The Silvertips opened the scoring 13:48 into the game on a goal by Ivan Nikolishin, but the Hawks evened it at the 18:07 mark when Oliver Bjorkstrand fired a one-timer past Everett netminder Austin Lotz to make it 1-1 heading into the second.

Everett took a 3-1 lead after early second period goals from Nikita Scherbak and Carson Stadnyk, the latter on a power play. The Hawks got back within one at the 8:27 mark when Nic Petan scored his first of the season in his second game back from the Winnipeg Jets to cut the deficit to 3-2. Everett got one more at the 17:54 mark from Ben Betker to give them a 4-2 lead after 40 minutes.

Stadnyk struck again 2:02 into the third to give Everett a 5-2 lead, and then at the 15:49 mark Kohl Bauml scored to give the Silvertips a 6-2 advantage that stood as the final.

The Hawks are back in action tomorrow when they host the Seattle Thunderbirds at 7 p.m. at the Moda Center.
