Starting today, the best 11-13 year old softball players from around the world will flock to Alpenrose Dairy with the hopes to become World Champions.

The Alpenrose Little League Softball World Series is a 27 game series with four teams from visiting countries and six teams representing U.S. regions. The four world teams are Europe/Africa, Canada, Latin America and Asia Pacific. The six U.S. teams include West, East, Southwest, Central, and the host team, Oregon District 4.

For the 20th consecutive year, Alpenrose fields in Portland were chosen as the site for the annual tournament which will be airing live on ESPN2. The baseball/softball fields located on the Alpenrose grounds are in pristine condition and have been in use since Henry Cadonau, the Founder of Alpenrose Dairy, built them for his grandchildren over 56 years ago. Generations later, the Cadonau family is still running the family-owned dairy business and continues to share their love of the sport with their community and the world.

“My grandfather, dad and uncle started these types of activities back in the early ’50s,” said Carl Cadonau Jr., President of Alpenrose Dairy. “It’s just part of what we do and it’s a way for us to give back to the community that has supported us for so many years. Happy kids and families is a big part of our business.”

Games start August 8 and run through to the World Championship on August 14. Each day features around four games with the first starting at 10:00 a.m. and the last at 7:00 p.m. Admission to the week-long event is free, no tickets or passes needed.
