Minor League Baseball’s Top 10 Mascots
8. Oggie
Team: Ogden Raptors
League: Pioneer League
Affiliate: Dodgers (Rookie Affiliate)
I’ve got a major league soft spot for dinosaurs, so giving Oggie a top 10 spot was a no-brainer. But he definitely deserved it. While The Ogden Raptors didn’t go all out on this mascot’s costume (let’s just say he’s no cheerleader-eating Toronto Raptor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_jOd9ohHGE), as it oftentimes looks floppy and sad.
But, it’s a dinosaur. So bonus points for that.
BIO: Oggie was hatched in Ogden, Utah, in 1994. His egg was unearthed when construction crews were excavating the grounds of Lindquist Field. While the team is in town, Oggie comes out from his nest whenever he senses prey invading his home territory. The prey always wears grey baseball uniforms, and he maintains that Orem Owlz taste the best. Oggie can be seen stalking his prey and readying ambushes all throughout his home. Sometimes, he finds a straggling kid to eat, which is a well-deserved treat. Oggie loves children — they taste just like chicken. (Vote for this mascot at MiLB.com’s Mascot Mania)
