Oliver Bjorkstrand had a hat trick as the Portland Winterhawks (33-12-2-3) ran their winning streak to seven games with a 6-2 victory in Everett Sunday against the Silvertips (25-17-7-1).

Everett opened the scoring 9:49 into the first on a goal by Josh Winquist, but 51 seconds later Bjorkstrand scored his first of the night to make it 1-1, which remained the score going into the second.

From there Portland raced out to a 4-1 lead with three goals in the second period, beginning 1:06 into the frame on Bjorkstrand’s second of the game. Brendan Leipsic scored midway through the period, extending his goal streak to five games and a 3-1 Portland lead. Bjorkstrand then completed the hat trick at the 11:18 mark as the Hawks took a 4-1 lead into the third.

Just over three minutes into the third Chase De Leo made it a 5-1 advantage with his 28th goal of the season. Keegan Iverson added to the lead later in the third with a power play goal for a 6-1 lead. Everett’s Kohl Bauml added one for the Silvertips to make it 6-2, which stood as the final.

Brendan Burke was outstanding in net for the Hawks, with 27 saves on 29 shots.

The Hawks will play the Silvertips for the third straight time Wednesday at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
